When a pet requires monitoring, supportive fluids, or sustained care beyond a single appointment, hospitalization at Alma Animal Hospital provides a supervised, comfortable environment for recovery. We monitor hospitalized patients closely throughout the day, with regular assessments and clear communication with you about your pet’s status. Hospitalization is available for post-surgical recovery, illness management, and stabilization before or after referral to a specialist facility or another level of care. Pickup is arranged when your pet is stable and ready for continued care at home.
In-house glucose testing provides rapid blood glucose measurements for diabetic pets and those presenting with signs of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. Fast results allow us to make informed care decisions during the appointment without waiting for external laboratory returns. Glucose testing is also used during hospitalization for diabetic patients and as a screening tool for pets showing signs consistent with metabolic disease. We prepare a detailed referral summary and communicate directly with the specialist team to ensure continuity of care. For families traveling internationally with pets, we assist with documentation requirements including international health certificates, titer testing coordination, and export documentation.
