For severe matting that would cause prolonged stress or discomfort to address while awake, we recommend our sedated shave service to resolve the coat issue safely and painlessly.
Some dogs and cats experience significant anxiety during nail trims, making the procedure stressful for both the pet and the owner. A sedated nail trim allows the procedure to be completed safely and calmly, without the struggle and stress of a restraint-only approach. Sedation is administered by a veterinarian and is tailored to the patient’s size, health status, and level of anxiety. The nail trim is completed while your pet is relaxed, and full recovery monitoring is provided before pickup. Sedated nail trims are suitable for healthy adult dogs and cats.
Sedated shave is available for dogs and cats with severely matted coats that cannot be managed with dematting alone, or when a full coat shave is required for post-surgical care, wound access, or medical reasons. We use a broad-spectrum sedation protocol tailored to the individual patient and monitor throughout the procedure. Sedated shave is a medical procedure and is performed by our veterinary team, not a general grooming salon.
